- Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)
APHIS is responsible for setting enforcing standards of humane care and treatment of animals. - Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) in the Office of Extramural Research, National Institutes of Health (NIH)
OLAW provides guidance and interpretation of the Public Health Service (PHS) Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and monitors compliance with the Policy. - National Science Foundation (NSF) Animal Welfare Requirements
All NSF grantees are responsible for the humane care and treatment of any vertebrate animal used or intended for use in such activities as field or laboratory research, development, training, experiments, biological testing or for related purposes supported by NSF grants.
