How to Submit Questions or Concerns about Animal Care and Use
If you have a question or concern regarding laboratory animal care and use at the University of Michigan, please contact the University Committee on Use and Care of Animals (UCUCA) Office at ucuca.office@umich.edu.
If you observe misuse or mistreatment of animals, or if you see procedures that you do not think comply with federal regulations or institutional guidelines, report the incident immediately by calling the Animal Concern Hotline at 734-763-8028.
Once an allegation of mistreatment, misuse, or noncompliance is received, UCUCA staff will review and, if warranted, investigate the allegations. A veterinary faculty member from the Unit for the Laboratory Animal Medicine will be consulted, if necessary. The UCUCA then makes recommendations for action, if warranted. Reports and sources of information are maintained in confidence according to University guidelines.
